We began raising our Livestock in the winter of 2014 when we rescued 5 Nigerian Dwarf Goats. Three of those goats were very pregnant but we had no idea when they were actually bred. In just over a month our herd doubled in size as one doe gave birth to a single kid and two does gave birth to twins. In 2016 our herd grew even larger with the addition of our East Friesian Dairy Sheep and our Golden Guernsey cross Goats. All of our animals on the farm not only provide us with the highest quality food they also play a vital role in the ecology on our Permaculture farm. With the protection of our Great Pyrenees as Livestock Guardian Dogs our goats and sheep are able to roam freely on our 35 acre farm clearing brush and restoring our 100 year old Apple Orchard. As our Does give birth in the Spring we let them raise their Kids and Lambs and only assist if there are complications. During the Milking Season our Goats and Sheep are milked twice a day after the kids and lambs have nursed. Although we get less milk while the kids and lambs are growing we believe this is a more sustainable approach to raising dairy animals.
All of our Animals on the Farm are raised Naturally.
