If you watch our videos on The Dancing Farm you know that all of our Poultry are able to roam freely on our farmstead and in our pastures. By roaming our farm our Chickens are able to forage for the best and healthiest foods found only in Nature. Although our birds are also given organic feed, during the growing season all of our animals prefer finding the freshest and most nutritious natural foods such as grasses, seeds, blossoms, fruit and insects. All of this nutrition and exercise is then transferred to the healthiest eggs available. Happy Chickens make the best Eggs. To prove this point we encourage everyone to compare an egg purchased at a supermarket with an egg from our farm and you will be shocked by how different the eggs are in appearance and most importantly in taste.
Unless you lived in another country, most people in the US believe that Eggs need to be refrigerated always in order to stay fresh which is not true. Female birds (or Hens) of all species secrete a protective film around the egg that is being laid which acts as an antimicrobial barrier. Factory and industrial Egg farms wash and disinfect their eggs removing this protective layer and therefore need to keep their Eggs refrigerated. Our Pastured Free Range Eggs are not washed and the protective layer remains allowing us to ship and store our Eggs at room temperature just as they do in most other countries around the World.
Our Eggs are packed and shipped on the same day and sent by USPS Priority Mail. Because all of our eggs are extremely fresh and unwashed our Eggs are able to stay unrefrigerated for up to a month. We encourage our customers to wash and rinse our Eggs with a mild soap before using. Once our Eggs have been washed they would need to be refrigerated.
Please Note: These Eggs are not fertilized Eggs and will not hatch in an incubator.
Chicken eggs are an excellent source of phosphorous, zinc and potassium, while also supplying some amount of calcium and sulphur. The various vitamins you can obtain from a chicken egg are – Vitamin A, D, E, B1, B2. In fact, eggs are among the rare foods that are a good source of Vitamin D. One chicken egg contains close to 14% of daily allowance of protein, for an adult. A medium sized egg contains close to 65 calories of energy mostly in the form of protein and triglycerides (fats) (5.5 g of protein and 4.4 g of fats). These eggs contain all the 8 basic amino acids necessary for a healthy body.
